Keira Knightley

Knightley, born in London to the family consisting of actor Will Knightley & Sharman Macdonald as young as six years old was first employed in TV commercials as well as films. Her role was minor in the role of Sabe in the space opera Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace (1999). Her first big breakthrough was in the role of a teenage footballer in the sports film Bend It Like Beckham (2002) which later achieved global stardom for playing Elizabeth Swann in the swashbuckler fantasy show Pirates of the Caribbean, which began in 2003. In 2003, she was a star in the romance comedy Love Actually and was called promising teen. Knightley was awarded an Academy Award nod for Best Actress in 2005 for her portrayal of Elizabeth Bennet, the heroine of the historical romance Pride & Prejudice. She starred in a number of more period pieces as a complex love relationship on the screen in Atonement (2007), tastemaker Georgiana Cavendish on The Duchess (2008), and the titular socialite from Anna Karenina (2012). The actress also appeared in contemporary dramas in Begin Again (2013), playing an aspirant musician in Begin Again (2013) and a Medical student as a medical student in Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit (2014). Knightley was back in dramatic dramas from the past, as Joan Clarke, in The Imitation Game, which earned her the Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress.
